Published annually by U. S. Bureau of the Census. For each 4-digit SIC industry gives county totals, in number of employees, payrolls, and number of establishments by employment size class. Includes finance, insurance, and real estate SIC categories that are not covered in the census itself.

This is the most important single source for current U. S. business statistics. It covers general business indicators, commodity prices; construction and real estate; domestic trade; foreign trade of the U. S.; labor force; employment and earnings; finance; transportation and communication; etc. Besides these regularly quoted statistics, special statistical reports appear at intervals. The best known is the annual "National Income and Product Accounts" issue.
