Embedded Hosted Media & Copyright
Many cultural heritage institutions, government agencies, other nonprofits, and news organizations publish hosted media content that is publicly viewable, publicly shareable, and can often get embedded into digital projects like blog posts, web pages, and your ArcGIS digital exhibit platform. This type of hosted shareable media content can be found on those organization's websites and social media channels. While those organizations usually hold copyright for that media – except for U.S. federal government agencies whose work resides in the public domain – they are allowing that digital media to be linked to and embedded elsewhere. Embedding content provided by those organizations on their official websites and social media channels does not violate copyright since embedding content is just another form of linking to their content. This content does not get downloaded by you and then uploaded somewhere else.
