History 402A (Dr. Cawthra): Group Projects on Omeka.net

Library instruction guide for the Fall 2023 semester of History 402A: Introduction to Public History.

Course Assignment

The HIST 402A class mapping project will be created and published using a group project site hosted on Omeka.net. Each student needs to be added to this class site, so that they can build out their assigned part of this project. You want to try to accept your site invitation before our October 28th instruction session.

If you run into any trouble, please contact your assigned library Colleen Greene through our the class Canvas course. Your class project site administrator is Colleen, and your professor will be added as well.

How to Join Our Class Group Omeka.net Site

Follow these steps to accept an invitation to join an existing class or team Omeka.net project site.

Step 1: Set Up Your Free Omeka.net Account

To join a collaborative group project site on Omeka.net, you need to first have your own Omeka.net account. If you do not already have one, visit this page of our course guide for instructions on setting up your account.

Step 2: Have the Site Administrator Send You an Invitation

Once you have an active Omeka.net account, provide the email associated with that account to the administrator of the group site. The site administrator will add your email address to the group site, and send you an email invitation.

Step 3: Accepting & Activating Your Invitation

This tutorial walks Cal State Fullerton students and other digital scholars through the process of how to accept an invitation to collaborate on an Omeka.net class or group project, and then join that group site.
