Library Instruction & Subject Consultant Librarians
Librarians at the Pollak Library teach more than 700 course-integrated library instruction sessions per year. They are available to instruct your students on how to find and evaluate resources for class assignments and research papers. Lessons are tailored to meet the needs of each class. Classes typically range from 50 to 90 minutes. Please fill out the Library Instruction Request Form to book your session.
Subject Consultant Librarians have created online library guides with helpful information (library resources) for your discipline.
Once again, at this link you can find the Subject Consultant Librarian for your discipline.
Library Resources
Course reserves are supplementary materials (books in print, DVDs, and other physical items) provided by faculty or the Library in support of course curricula. Fill out this form to request the library to purchase materials required for your course. Instructors may submit reserve requests via our online Course Reserves Request Form. Requests may include items from the Library’s collections, personal copies to be provided, or recommendations for purchase (within acquisition guidelines and budgetary limits). Personal copies must fall within fair-use exemptions to copyright law.
Materials Request (Purchase or Digitize) Form
Use this form to request items for your coursework to be purchased or digitized. Note that only assigned materials may be requested.
Leganto gives faculty members seamless access to the Library's electronic resources and course reserves system, as well as the ability to upload PDFs, link to pages on the Internet, and make their research and data sets available to their students in the context of their Canvas course site.
Open Educational Resources (OER) for your courses
Pollak Library offers eBooks, streaming video, and a wide range of databases. You can embed these materials into your courses! Learn how now.
The Library subscribes to different streaming media services. This allows you to link movie clips (in your class CANVAS page) for your students to view. For streaming media, please see the Streaming Media Library Guide (link above). Use the Materials Request form for streaming video requests. Streaming video requests should be submitted each semester that the video is needed as the films are only licensed for one semester to one year at a time.
Using Library eBooks and Streaming Media in Your Courses: please contact the OER Librarian or appropriate subject librarian before assigning a library eBook in one of your classes. Library eBooks may have user limits that cause access issues for your students and may not replace students' needing to purchase their own copies. The library does not purchase textbooks, but we will purchase course materials when available in a multi-user eBook format when available. Please use the Materials Request form or see the OER info to find out if one of your course materials is available from the library as a multi-user eBook format.
