External General History Examples

Through Hell to the Midwest: A Holocaust Mapping Project

This historical web mapping project was created by a faculty and student team at Fort Hays State University. It shares and maps oral histories of Holocaust survivors who settled in the American Midwest. Individual ArcGIS StoryMaps were created to share each survivor testimony, and an ArcGIS Online web map is included on each StoryMap to show that survivor’s geographic journey. Individual testimony StoryMaps are bundled together into StoryMaps collections, with a web map showing the geographic journey of each StoryMap in that collection. A project-wide web map displays the journeys of all survivor testimonies.
