Statistical Abstract of the United States 1878-2012  (Census Bureau) : Published since 1878, the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.  Also serves as a guide to sources of additional information both in print and on the Web. Beginning with 2013 ed. published by Proquest and available by request in the catalog (print edition).

Data.gov : Official U.S. government site providing public access to federal government datasets.

FedStats (U.S. Government Publishing Office) : Provides easy access to statistics and information produced by more than 100 U.S. federal government agencies.

USA.gov : Data and Statistics : Data and statistics on USA.gov the governments's official web portal for all government transactions, services, and information.

Specific Government Statistics Sources

Agriculture - National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA) : Responsible for conducting monthly and annual surveys and preparing official USDA data and estimates of production, supply, prices, and other information necessary, and conducts the census of agriculture every 5 years.

Economics - Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) (US Dept. of Commerce) : Source of US economic statistics including national income and product accounts (NIPAs) and the gross domestic product (GDP).

Education - National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) (US Dept. of Education) : Center collects, analyzes and makes available data related to education in the U.S. and other nations.

Labor - Bureau of Labor Statistics  (US Dept. of Labor) : Principal fact-finding agency for the federal Government in the field of labor economics and statistics.

Public Health - Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) (CDC) : Prepared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is the agency's primary vehicle for scientific publication of timely, reliable, authoritative, accurate, objective, and useful public health information and recommendations.

National Center for Health Statistics (CDC) : Provides US public health statistics including diseases, pregnancies, births, aging, and mortality.

Vital Statistics - Vital Statistics Online (CDC) : Portal to the online data dissemination activities of the Division of Vital Statistics, including both interactive online data access tools and downloadable public use data files.
