Instruction guide History 502B: Practicum in Digital History.

Welcome

Welcome to the History 402B "Practicum in Digital History" guide for Spring 2021.

This guide is intended to supplement our synchronous instruction sessions this semester, for students to refer back to as they build out their culminating project of mapping public art works in Orang County, California. If you have questions or need assistance, contact the Digital Literacy Librarian using the information listed on the right.

At the end of this semester's library instruction sessions, you will be able to:

  • explain why public domain and Creative Commons licensed digital assets can be used free of charge and without violating copyright,
  • locate public domain and Creative Commons licensed digital assets,
  • interpret and analyze the item record, web page, or social media post for a digital image to determine usage rights,
  • interpret and analyze item record, web pages, and social media posts to identify relevant metadata to include in your mapping project, and
  • determine who to contact to inquire about permission to reuse images shared on social media and general website.
