Streaming Video from the Pollak Library: Overview

Overview

The Pollak Library offers thousands of streaming videos on several platforms.

To find a video by title:  Type your title in the OneSearch box and limit scope to Books & Media at CSUF. If that video is part of the collection, the access link will be found in the search results.  If the video does not appear in the results, it is not in our collection.
To find videos by topic:  Our different platforms offer different methods for browsing titles. Navigate to the databases and browse within the different platforms:

  • Academic Video Online (AVON): Allows several methods for browsing all available titles on the Alexander Street platform. Click Filter from the platform page, and browse by subject, content type, or more.
  • Kanopy: Click Browse at the top of the platform to access Kanopy's subject headings.
  • Docuseek: From the platform, click Browse to search by keywords or click Subjects to browse by subject heading
  • From OneSearch, search by keywords then filter results to Video under Resource Type in the lefthand menu.

What if the Library doesn't have the streaming video you want?  Due to the high cost of streaming resources, requests for videos are currently only accepted by faculty request for required course viewings. Faculty may use the Materials Request Form to submit their requests.

Many public libraries have free streaming video collections, so consult your local public library. Los Angeles Public Library offers cards to all residents of California and expanded access to Kanopy.
