What's Brewing 2017 Spring Event Details

The Pollak Library invites campus faculty to join us for complimentary wine, beer, and food as we explore and discuss the viability of a Green Open Access (Journal Article Archiving) Policy.

Audience

This event is hosted exclusively for members of the CSU Fullerton Faculty and Senate. Emeriti faculty are also invited.

Event Speakers

Christopher Kelty of UCLA is our keynote speaker, followed by Jon Bruschke moderating a panel of distinguished CSU Fullerton faculty, and then an Q&A session for all attendees.

Christopher M. Kelty (Ph.D., MIT) is Associate Professor at UCLA with appointments in the Institute for Society and Genetics, the Department of Information Studies, and the Department of Anthropology. His research and publishing deals with openness and participation across information studies, the natural sciences, and the humanities. Christopher played a leading role in the promotion and passage of the Green Open Access (Journal Archiving) policies at UCLA and the whole UC System and speaks regularly on Open Access and the changing scholarly publishing landscape.

The event will be hosted in PLN-130 on February 8th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Space is limited to the first 75 faculty who register.

  •     5:00p.m. - Faculty mingling
  •     5:30p.m. - Keynote by Christopher Kelty
  •     6:00p.m. - CSUF Faculty Panel Discussion featuring Nancy Segal, Michelle Mouttapa, and Anelise Shrout, moderated by Jon Bruschke
  •     6:30p.m. - Q&A moderated by Jon Bruschke
  •     7:00p.m. - Faculty mingling

Check-In & Refreshments

The Main Program venue (PLN-130) will be open at 5:00p.m. for check-in and refreshments. The event includes a courtesy beer and wine service, also offering sparkling water, soft drinks, hot tea and coffee. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will also be served.

Registration

Since event attendance is limited to 75 people, reservations are highly recommended though they may end up not being required. Register early to save your spot!

Play Open Access Jeopardy and Win Prizes!

During Open Access Week only (October 23-29, 2017), Pollak Library is hosting a raffle for those who play our Open Access Jeopardy game! We have $200 worth of prizes from the Titan Bookstore to offer. Prizes include CSUF hats, sweatshirts, t-shirts, coffee mugs, flash drives, and other swag.

Please note that only CSUF students, faculty, and staff are eligible for the raffle, and that employees of Pollak Library are not eligible. Also note that each person can only enter the raffle one time. Raffle prize winners will be notified on November 1, 2017.
