The Arts

Celebrating the Arts through Children’s Literature

The arts are a vibrant, necessary means of cultural expression throughout history and contemporary society. In preK-12 education, the arts also are a means for students to express their interests, experiences, and conceptual understanding at school. The Children’s and Young Adult Literature Exhibit at the Pollak Library will showcase children’s literature and educational resources focused on the arts for classroom teachers: featuring diverse cultural artistic expressions, using multiple arts disciplines to tell stories, and highlighting the biographies of artists from diverse communities in the US and globally.

The exhibit will feature mural artworks by Cal State Fullerton students, faculty and community classroom teachers who participated in the 2nd annual Arts at the Center conference this January. The exhibition will be viewed by SchoolsFirst board members at their June board meeting, held in PLN-403, also named the SchoolsFirst Center for Creativity and Critical Thinking.
